Bruno Schoenaerts

Law offices

Bruno Schoenaerts studied at the University of Antwerp from 1972 to 1977. He specialised in Commercial, Economical and Financial law. After internships in Antwerp with solicitors Speyer, Schoups and De Baeck (1977-1980), he started his own law firm in Antwerp.

He earned a solid national and international reputation as a lawyer for companies and private individuals. With his specific knowledge of, and interest in, the wide and diversified aspects of the judicial side of business life, he proved to be not only an efficient advisor, but also a smart strategist.

By writing 'The Belgian justice. A Kafkaian nightmare', in 1995, that's before the Dutroux case, Bruno Schoenaerts already gave a cutting and humiliating analysis of the judicial situation in Belgium.
He wrote the book nearly seven years ago, but the remedies proposed by the lawyer-author are still seen today as the keystone for the transformation of the Belgian justice to a well functioning and democratic judiciary system. Fifty per cent of his remedies have become reality meanwhile.
